Sunflowers, love and light

A group of friends in Mackay, Queensland, commemorated the Centenary of the Ascension of Abdu’l-Baha in a meeting that drew on the use of arts and crafts. They also prayed and read together from the Writings of Abdu’l-Baha.

Together they created 9 petaled sunflowers inspired by other communities in Central Queensland. The sunflower, which when it blooms turns towards and follows the sun, signified for them the love that Abdu’l-Baha had for Baha’u’llah’s teachings. All Abdu’l-Baha’s thoughts, words and actions were directed to be of service to Baha’u’llah.
